
Community Health Worker Certification Training
The Columbia Gorge Health Council is excited to be launching our Learning Collaborative with our first Community Health Worker (CHW) Certification Training starting in April 2025. In partnership with Northeastern Oregon Network (NEON) and Healthy Rural Oregon (HRO), the Columbia Gorge Health Council is now a training HUB for the CHW state certification training.

2024 Community Health Assessment Wraps Up
The Columbia Gorge Health Council (CGHC) and the Community Advisory Council (CAC) are proud to announce that the 2024 Community Health Assessment (CHA)is complete. The information gathered for the CHA will inform community-wide strategies to address the region's highest-priority needs.

Lissette Rivera grew up in Hood River and started interpreting from English to Spanish for her parents when she was six years old. She often went to medical appointments with her family members to help them understand the doctors. As Community Health Worker (CHW) with Bridges to Health, Lissette is able to relate to her clients because her family experienced similar challenges.

When Manuela Rodriguez’s husband Juan tested positive for Covid-19 in January of this year, she knew the family needed some extra support. Araceli supported Manuela and her family throughout Juan’s illness, checking in and bringing the family essentials like groceries, shampoo, and conditioner.

Josh has been working at MCHA since then, and in 2018, he became a Community Health Worker (CHW) with the Bridges to Health program. As a CHW, he supports clients struggling to access resources on their own, from health care to food and housing.

Bridges to Health adapts to support Gorge
When COVID hit in the spring, Bridges to Health began receiving referrals from local health departments for clients in isolation and quarantine who needed additional support to help them stay safely isolated.

CGHC grant applications are now being accepted
The Columbia Gorge Health Council and PacificSource are offering a funding opportunity that will award grants to tax-exempt organizations for projects that address the Priorities defined in the 2020-2023 Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

The Columbia Gorge Health Council awards more than $1.5 Million locally for COVID Response
During the month of April 2020, the Columbia Gorge Health Council Board of Directors approved more than $1.5 Million in funding to support both health and healthcare needs in the Gorge community in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.


CCO 2.0 Topics
CCO 2.0 is the second 5-year contract being awarded by the Oregon Health Authority to Coordinated Care Organizations in Oregon. In an effort to raise awareness about the main requirements and decision-points for CCO 2.0, presentations have been developed to educate the Columbia Gorge Health Council Board and sub-committees on key topics.
